HAPPY HOLIDAYs

DECEMBER 2020

Who would have thought that this Christmas would be so different from others.

Last year Henry and I were in the Plaza Civica enjoying the Christmas decorations and planning the move of Galeria Izamal from Mesones to Calle Jesus. Our landlord of 22 years there on Mesones sold the entire building in December.  Boy- - - was his timing incredible.  We renovated an old downtown laundromat into an incredible art gallery in just one month. We were in by February and temporarily closed by March 28th due to Covid. Lockdown till August1 and now are open but to a new cautious clientele.  It´s harder to greet people when we all look like bandits.

But greet them we will.  Our space is huge---social distancing is the norm. And we have wonderful varied art at prices accessible to everyone.   As an artist co-op, our prices are already half that of other galleries and you get to meet the member artists:  photographer Elena Baca, painters Juan Carlos Cazares, Juan Ezcurdia (now also with jewelry), Jeff Ferst, Javier Garcia, Cissy Smith Marks, Lawrence Selevan, Henry Vermillion, (me:) Britt Zaist and jeweler Wolfgang Lichter.   Some of us work there – others drop in to say hello.  Our friend, photographer Ted Davis now has his wonderful book with us. We hope to see you over the holidays.

And in the holiday spirit, I want to share some of the many Christmas cards I´ve drawn over my many years!

Happy Holidays - stay home - stay safe.
